Mood Scent 4 : Gorgeous Gourmand Perfumes

It’s Mood Scent 4 time again! Sam from Wales (I Scent You A Day), Portia from Australia (now writing on A Bottled Rose as guest blogger), Megan from France (Megan from Sainte Maxime) and I from The Netherlands publish a post every month on the same subject, linking fragrance to mood or occasion. Portia recently stopped with the perfume blog Australian Perfume Junkies but fortunately writes now on A Bottled Rose as guest blogger. So here we are again, the four of us and this time we have chosen to write about gorgeous gourmand perfumes!

Gourmand perfumes are fragrances which remind us of desserts or other sweet treats like chocolate, licorice, vanilla, caramels, candied cherries, pralines and other sugared delicacies. I have to admit I rather like this group of perfumes if they don’t smell too much of candy floss. My 5 choices of gorgeous gourmand perfumes are:

Hilde Soliani Vanichic – Lemon Merengue Pie!

Notes: Bergamot. Lemon, Sandalwood and Vanilla

Italian perfumer Hilde Soliani created many perfumes inspired by desserts and food including perfumes smelling of salted strawberries (Fraaagola Saalaaata), hot milk and red Italian pepper Peperoncino (Hot Milk) or sugar coated orange blossom scented almonds (Conaffetto). One of my personal favorites is Vanichic. Vanichic smells like a freshly made warm creamy and juicy vanilla cake coated with refreshing lemon curd and a merengue topping. It is soothing, smooth and delicious lemon meringue pie without becoming cloying due to the fresh sweet lemon. A gourmand for grown ups.

Sammarco Bond-T – Delicious Dark Chocolate!

Notes: Cacao, Patchouli, Vanilla, Osmanthus and Tobacco

Bond-T is a chocolate centered fragrance inspired by a visit to a chocolate factory in Pisa of chocolate master Paul de Bondt which explains the puzzling name of the perfume. Smelling this perfume with its dry dusty dark chocolate, sweet patchouli and subtle animalic notes makes me curious of the chocolate factory and very special chocolates.

Bond-T is very well balanced and never too candy sweet due to the slightly dirty animalic notes. The animalic notes combined with the dark chocolate make it an interesting and distinctive perfume. Bond-T was created by Italian perfumer Giovanni Sammarco in 2013.

Lolita Lempicka By Lolita Lempicka Eau de Parfum – Licorice and Sweet Violets!

Notes: Ivy leaves, Anise, Iris, Violet, Amarena cherry, Licorice, Praline, Vetiver, Musk, Benzoin, Tonka bean and Vanilla.

Lolita Lempicka is a very interesting perfume of licorice, fresh green leaves and sweet violets with a dusty slightly powdery dry down. It leaves a beautiful scent of iris, black licorice and delicate violets on the skin. White praline chocolate and juicy amarena cherries are added to sweeten the fragrance. Lolita Lempicka was created in 1997 by master perfumer Annick Ménardo (also from Bvlgari Black, Dior Hypnotic Poison and Yves Rocher Rose Oud.)

You can read my two other picks of gorgeous gourmand fragrances here, one made by perfumer Alessandro Gualtieri and the other by Pierre Guillaume:  MariaLux/MariaL Mogadess Parfum  Huitième Art Parfums Poudre de Riz.
